Welcome to the Fun section on the Waterwise website

There are over 6,000,000,000 (6 billion) people who live in 195 countries on Earth. The smallest of these countries is Vatican City – measuring only 0.2 square miles, and the largest is Russia – measuring over 6,500,000 (6.5 million) square miles. The population of these 195 countries varies from China with over 1,300,000,000 (1.3 billion) people to the Vatican City with only 920 people living there. The longest river in the world is The Nile in Africa measuring over 6,500 kms long and the highest mountain in the world is Everest in Nepal and China measuring 8,848 metres in height.

The average person in the UK uses 150 litres of water a day. This takes into account cooking, cleaning, washing and flushing. Using this much water every day is not sustainable (we are using more water than the rivers are receiving from rain) and we are not the only ones with a water scarcity problem. According to the BBC 2/5 of world population already faces water shortages, and 1.1 billion people in the developing world do not have access to a minimal amount of clean water.
