The Sustainability Show Print

Waterwise at the Sustainability Show, The O2, 26-28 October 2007

The Waterwise stand was a hive of activity at the Sustainability Show, which took place at the O2 in London from 26 – 28 October. Waterwise staff were on hand all weekend to promote water saving messages and give out free shower timers to all visitors of the show. Water Group Promotions, suppliers of fun water saving devices, were selling devices to save water and raising the awareness of the importance of saving water. The event was launched by Sian Berry, the Mayoral Candidate of the Green Party. English botanist and environmental campaigner, David Bellamy was a key speaker and activist throughout the weekend.

Excited children had the opportunity to colour in Waterwise the fish sketches and at the same time understand the need to save water and ways of doing so in and around the home. We had some fantastic, colourful artwork from some very artistic children. Thank you to everyone who participated. See the winning pictures below.

Meanwhile parents had the chance to participate in a survey around water using habits. The results are being collated and will help us with our further research.

In addition, Waterwise was looking for new innovative water saving tips in return for a chance to win a free duck shower timer pack. Some excellent tips were submitted – with showering with a friend seeming to be the most popular way to save water!

The three best water saving tips and the winners are:

- Molly Abella from London reuses water from her bedtime drink to feed the plants in the morning.

- Shanta Barley from Middlesex, suggests taking a potted plant into the shower with you.

- Lynette Davison from East Sussex, recommends that people put in the plug when taking a shower and siphon the collected water into the garden.

Thank you to everyone who participated in events at the Waterwise stand. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to seeing you next year.
